We must give a massive shoutout to Westerham Brewery who took us up on the call for new malt suggestions. They came forward with the fabulous idea of producing a Vienna Malt with a heritage variety, after being inspired by the book Vienna Lager by Andreas Krennmair. Thanks so much to Westerham for their proposal. It has been a very exciting project; – we are very happy with the results and are sure other brewers will want to try this excellent (although we say so ourselves) new heritage malt.
HANÁ VIENNA
So, let us introduce to you to the latest in our latest Small Batch Series: Haná Vienna Malt. It pairs a heritage 1842 Czech Moravia barley variety, with a renowned malt style; Vienna, making it authentic as well.
Check out our Haná journey here. After introducing Haná Malt as the first in our one-off Small Batch Series – and reintroducing it this year because it was so popular – we couldn’t resist using this wonderful barley again to see what else it had to offer.
For Haná Vienna, the barley is expertly malted, and carefully kilned to a colour of 8.1, bringing beautiful aromas of sweet, malty bread to the final beer, with a wonderfully smooth finish. Brew with this malt to bring the past to life right before your eyes, nose and mouth! Use Haná Vienna at up to 60% of the grist.
Pair it with Clear Choice® Extra Pale Malt for a wonderfully clear and crisp beer.
Try our Heritage Haná Pilsen Malt or German Pilsner Malt to recreate a piece of history and produce the truest to style authentic Vienna Lager. You’ll be in for a treat – and so will your brewery’s fans.
