Extra Pale Maris Otter® Malt

At Crisp we also malt a low color (Extra Pale) version of the Maris Otter® barley. This was originally developed for low color beer production in traditional. craft breweries where a higher level of modification is demanded for both efficient extract delivery and good brewhouse performance.

Extra Pale Maris Otter delivers the classic biscuit richness of traditional Maris Otter in a paler, cleaner base malt designed for modern brewing. Grown and malted in Norfolk, this heritage barley variety provides exceptional flavor clarity, reliable performance and a lighter color that lets hops and yeast expression shine.

Due to the pale color this can also be used for light European styles or even cut with our Lager Malt to form a slight malt base for fuller lager styles.
