Since 1870 we’ve lived and breathed malting. With this passion and expertise, and by combining traditional and modern techniques, we create an impressive range of malted and non-malted products, including several unique and exclusive barley malts.
There is nothing more we love than talking to brewers and distillers so if you have any questions, or would like to arrange a call with a member of our team, please feel free to get in touch – we would love to hear from you!
We are delighted to have supported David Holliday, of Moon Gazer Ale, and his charity event he will be carrying out in October. Between 1st -7th October 2025, David will be attempting his toughest and furthest beer push challenge yet. He aims to push a 75kg beer barrel in 7 ultra marathons in 7 days covering the same route around Norwich 7 times. 75kg pushed for 350km in just 1 week! This is all to raise money for an important Norfolk Charity, It’s On The Ball.
It’s on the Ball is a Norfolk based charity dedicated to raising awareness of testicular cancer. Testicular cancer is one of the biggest killers of young men in the UK – but it shouldn’t be, as 96% of all cases can be cured if diagnosed early. However, whilst it is one of the most curable cancers, it is also one of the fastest spreading and just a few weeks delay in diagnosis can severely reduce survival chances.
Whilst testicular cancer can affect men of all ages, it is particularly prominent in the 18-34 age group – an age group which is particularly hard to alert to cancer as they often perceive it as an older person’s disease. Our donation of £1500 will allow the team at It’s on The Ball – many of whom are survivors of the disease – to raise awareness by doing talks in schools, colleges and businesses as well as hosting and attending events. The cancer charity also runs a monthly text alert service – free to use – which reminds men to check themselves every month by texting ‘BALLS’ to 66777
The donation will also help fund support packs and a one-on-one buddy support for those undergoing treatment – the empathy from someone who has been through the treatment themselves is of great comfort. It’s on The Ball believes that no young man needs to die of this cancer – and the donation will help them towards that goal!
“The donation from Crisp Malt was such a massive and welcome boost and can fund so much awareness among young men. Crisp have always demonstrated support for our work – even joining in the physical challenges of the beer push – but to back that moral show of support with the donation will make a tangible difference in the amount of awareness talk and support packs we can carry out. One of the positive things about the work which the donation will support is we don’t need massive money for research we just need awareness to save lives! It was also great to be able to visit Crisp employees and alert them to the risks of this cancer and we are pleased to say some signed up to the text alert service.” – David Holliday
